The situation formed in the system of physical education in Ukraine is analyzed in the article. The reasons, resulting in sharp worsening of students health condition, to depreciation of social prestige of health, physical culture and sport, underestimation in higher educational establishments of social, health and educating role of physical culture and sport, are analyzed. The variants of this problem solution by correct organization of physical education are offered.
