3. Requirements for the formatting of articles

Articles may be submitted in Ukrainian or English.

The text should be typed with one-and-a-half line spacing on a standard typewritten sheet (margins: left, top and bottom 2 cm each, right 1 cm) using 14-point Times New Roman font.

The article should be structured as follows:
• UDC code – on the left, corresponding to the keywords;
• the author’s (authors’) initials and surname, and each author’s ORCID ID; title of the article;
• full name of the institution(s) where the work was carried out, city, country.

If there are several authors and they work at different institutions, then an Arabic numeral must be used as a superscript to indicate the institution where each author works; the name of the institution must be given with the corresponding numeral, along with the email address(es) and telephone number.

A research article must contain the following structural elements:

Introduction. This section sets out the problem in general terms, analyses recent research and publications that have begun to address this problem and on which the author relies, identifies previously unresolved aspects of the overall problem, states the objectives, and outlines the research methodology. The information provided in the introduction must be sufficiently comprehensive – this is necessary to enable other researchers to potentially replicate the results, to compare the results with those of similar studies, and to allow for the possible inclusion of the article’s data in a meta-analysis.

Presentation of the main material.

Conclusions. The work carried out is summarised: the data obtained are synthesised and the potential for further scientific research is explored. Recommendations for practice are provided, along with guidance on the possible application of the results in future studies.

References. The lists of references are compiled as follows: first (List of References), in alphabetical order, are sources in the language in which the work was published; followed by (References) in the Latin alphabet (sources published in Cyrillic are transliterated). In the transliterated list (References), sources are arranged in the same order as in the original list.

The list of sources used and the ‘References’ section must contain a significant number of works published within the last 10 years (at least 40 per cent). Each work in the bibliography must be cited in the body of the manuscript. In the text, references are indicated by square brackets containing the source’s serial number followed, after a comma, by the page number(s), for example: [12, p. 10].

The list of references must be formatted in the original language and in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015. A reference to a journal article is formatted as follows: the authors’ surnames and initials, the full title of the article, the title of the journal or collection (abbreviated as standard where necessary), the year of publication, the volume, the issue number, and the pages (first and last) on which the article appears. Citation of a monograph: authors’ surnames and initials, title of the book, city of publication, publisher, year of publication, number of pages. At the end, the article’s unique digital identifier (DOI), if available, must be provided. You can check whether an article has a DOI on the website http://search.crossref.org. References to primary sources published in foreign languages are formatted in the same way. You can format the bibliographic description in accordance with DSTU 8302:2015 using the online automatic reference generation tool at https://www.grafiati.com/uk/, or another similar service.

References. To ensure publications are correctly indexed by scientometric systems, a ‘References’ section must follow the ‘List of References’. References must be formatted in accordance with APA Style: for Cyrillic citations, authors’ names and publication titles should be transliterated; the latter should also be given in English translation in [ ], with the original language indicated in brackets, for example, [in Ukrainian]. The titles of periodicals should be given in accordance with the official Latin spelling, using the ISSN registration number. Due to the requirements of abstracting databases for scientific periodicals, the ‘References’ list must be compiled with the utmost care. Latin letters must not be replaced with Cyrillic letters in the descriptive elements. Transliteration of sources for the ‘References’ section is carried out using the online service http://ukrlit.org/transliteratsiia
